So far, so good

In November last year, I launched Craigview Strategies – not fully knowing what to expect, or if it would even get off the ground. I pitched it, in the first instance, as a small consultancy giving political insight into how a Labour Government would operate, who the key players would be, and how policies would be prioritised. After the disastrous result for Labour in December, it is time to refocus its purpose.

Despite the disappointing result, Craigview kept me busy and distracted from the first election campaign I had not organised in 18 years.

During that time, I am grateful for having had the opportunity to work with Stonehaven Communications in London. Stonehaven are a relative ‘new kid on the block’ as far as London-based public affairs and communications firms are concerned, however their fresh approach to using research and scientific modelling to inform their client advice, coupled with their campaign-led approach, was a real learning curve for me. I want to thank them for the opportunity and hope to work with them again on future projects.

Never one to stray too far from politics, Craigview has allowed me continue to do some work around the current Labour leadership contest as an associate with a groundbreaking and innovative fundraising and campaigns consultancy, Stratcom UK.

We have been commissioned to work on projects involving academic research, as well as exploring the development of a membership and supporter base within a global NGO. Craigview continues to open doors to other potential projects in London, Scotland and overseas, so do watch this space.

I continue to spend my spare time and energy taking and putting into practice the advice given to me by many friends - and former political foes - I worked with (and against) over so many years. And I continue to promote Craigview, and how we might support individuals, organisations and worthwhile causes looking for someone with my political and campaign experience.

It is not easy setting up a small business, but it is incredibly rewarding.

Now it is time to push on with that refocus and look at ways I can work with others to grow the business and broaden its appeal.

In the meantime, please get in touch to discuss how we can help you, your organisation, or your cause. We would love to work with you.
